Cleaning House

Last week or so, I finally moved all my Diaryland entries over to LiveJournal and backdated them to the appropriate dates. I may go back and clean up some of the formatting and add some pictures, but it's unlikely to happen anytime soon. I'm just glad they're all in one place now. This past weekend we went to Sapphire Joust in Richmond. A few months ago, I had high hopes of this being a super cool event and the debut of my new and improved pavilion. But I came down with a case of life and a lot of the projects I had hoped to finish just didn't happen. I'm not sure if it was the abandoned projects, the heat, the absence of quite a few friends, or something else, but I was pretty cranky all weekend. I even took Friday off and was cranky all that day too. I wasn't the fun loving effervescent Genie that everyone knows and enjoys. I was pensive, moody, anti-social Genie. And I don't even like being around myself when I'm that way.

Even today, I've been in a bit of a funk. Snuggling the cat, snuggling the Puddin' and painting my toes and fingernails in Hello Kitty nail polish have been highlights of the day. But overall I've just felt very blah. I'm going to try prepping for some projects in the sewing room and maybe that will cheer me up.

My new goal is to have the pavilion ready for Assessments in July. I should have plenty of time to get it done and be able to not freak out about it. Fingers crossed ...

Looking for LJ friends ... in all the wrong places ...

I am a LiveJournal snob. I just went browsing around looking for interesting people who live in my area. There are none. Not a single one. I should note that I'm feeling a little cranky this evening so my restrictions were pretty tight. Things that would remove you from my potential friends list: - Your LiveJournal username has more numbers than letters or looks like a personalized license plate that only you and your circle of friends understand. - Your LJ icon is offensive. - Your user info says you were born before after (whoops) 1982 (give or take). Yeah, it's age discrimination, but I don't want to read about your ring dance or whether you failed your math test. - You can't type for crap. Or if you literally type about your or anyone else's l33t $k!11z.

So after filtering out those crazies, the only people on LiveJournal in my area are either in the Navy or obsessed with Jesus (I'm assuming at Regent University). One dude's name was something like "gunner4life". Yeah ... not my type.

So no new friends for me tonight. Everyone is stupid and ugly (present company excluded, of course).

Weekend in Review

Howdy there. Let's recap the past few days. Friday night we went out to Trogdor's for my birthday dinner. I feel like we ate one of everything on the menu, when really we just had an appetizer, dinner and dessert. But it was so fantastically good, I just wanted to keep eating. That's been a theme for me the past few weeks anyways, the whole constantly hungry thing. Bah on that.

Saturday during the day we filled the shed with all the random crap from around the house. I'm happy to report that there are entire rooms in which we have reclaimed the floor space. We picked up the forth bookcase for the guest room and filled it with random books and crap. It is super fine. Saturday also had some angst for us that bled over all the way through last night. But it's all resolved now and life is very good chez GenieAlisa and Puddin'.

We watched Star Wars last night. It was horrifically cheesey. I try to remind myself that most of those movies were cheesey. But this one seemed rushed to me. Like there was a lot of ground to cover and not much time to do it in. As if Mr. Lucas sat down with his legal pad to outline the movie and suddenly said to himself, "Jesus Christ! I've got a lot of stuff to explain! People become evil, lots of people die, babies have to get conceived and born (note to self ... look into collapsible cup delivery chute designs) and there needs to be some dialogue in there too!" I'm not an avid enough fan to be curmudgeon-y about it. But I shook my head at the "NOOOOOO!" scene. *sigh*

Me (watching the senator and his wife look lovingly upon their adopted Princess Leia): Don't you think she would notice she doesn't look much like her parents?

Rich: I think they're just happy they got a white baby.
