DLand - One Item or Less Lane

Hmm, I wrote this whole entry on what we did this weekend but it summed up to be hanging out with friends which was awesome, having a few minor arguments which was not so awesome and trying to find our dogs after they ran away which totally sucked. Yep, that pretty much sums up the weekend. You'll be happy to know that our arguments were petty and have been resolved, the dogs were found (yah to dog collars with phone numbers) and the groomer's appointment is set for Wednesday since they both ran away through the creek next to our neighborhood. When I complained about their stink last week, I didn't know how good I had it. Nasty, nasty dogs. The weekend was spent trying to stay out of the cold for the most part. We went to the mall and a fabric store and Wal-Mart where I bought exactly three things. That store should have a \"fits in one hand\" lane. Vlad always said it should have a one item or less lane but the lowest denominator there is 12, unfortunately. It was ridiculous. I would boycott that store as well, but I've boycotted K-Mart and Waffle House already so I don't want to spread myself too thin on boycotting vendors. I'll be stuck buying my shampoo and grits from Mel's Hardware down the street since they're the only store that doesn't make me mad.

Speaking of irrational emotions, I've been trying to not get all grumpy when I die in Ultima Online. I took it pretty well yesterday when a tribal mage took a cheap shot at me and wasted me. I could have taken him too, but I was busy looting other tribal bodies. The real kicker is when they turn around and kill Llois, my ridable llama. They've finally made the game so that fourteen year old boys can't kill me, and now I just get upset when non-player characters hurt me. The game is just too realistic and I have a hard time not getting all worked up about it. I also get really attached to my steeds and pets. Stupid mages. I'm all tough until something magical comes along and then my no magic resisting butt runs off screaming like a crazed lunatic \"Aah! Get 'em off me!\". I'm not very competitive, just emotional about having my corpse looted while I watch from my ghostly view. Stupid undead.

DLand - Short Term Versus Long Term Goals

Forget this ambrosia nonsense, toasted Thomas' english muffins are the real food of the gods. I've been having one for breakfast every morning at the office and it just really puts a cheery tint to my whole day. In other news, I have to pay full price for my birth control pills now. My new insurance does not cover what the old one did (even though they're both Trigon plans - mine is not to question why). So the next plan is to just have six kids and let Trigon pay for that instead.

I see birth control pills as preventative medicine, but most health insurance companies don't see it the way I do. They also won't pay for the medical supplies I use to keep my blood sugar under control (blood glucose meters, strips, etc.) but would happily pay for my kidney replacement, dialysis and amputations thirty years from now if I didn't buy these silly diabetes management tools. Bah and double bah!

So now that I'm paying $27.68 per month for pills instead of my $10 copay, I told Sweetpea that we need to be having a lot more sex now to get our money's worth. 177% more sex, in fact. He admitted that it would be tough to fit that into his hectic schedule but he's willing to make these sacrifices for my health and the economy. What a guy.

DLand - Gotta Lay Off the Pho Before Bedtime

Well, I think the next time I'm feeling down I'm just going to report it to all you kind folks in Dland. Because yesterday just took a swing towards the up and up. Did some laundry and cleaned the kitchen (never did wash a dog - oh well). And the house looks a lot more homey now. Jeremy and I went to this fabulous Vietnamese place called Saigon One last night. I will never understand Asian restaurants and their fascination with the number one. But we had some good pho and some soft rolls dipped in fish sauce and peanut sauce. Yum. I felt really immature, though, becuase the fish sauce smelled ... well, fishy. But it didn't taste fishy! So I just kept dipping my finger in it and licking it and then smelling my fingers. Grin and repeat. My husband thought I had lost my mind. I didn't feel bad, though, because it took him 40 days to order from the menu and only after I berated him and the nice lady came back three times with suggestions. Just close your eyes and pick one, sweet.

Feeling good despite the weird nightmare about sharks last night. Don't sleep in a waterbed if you're dreaming about sharks. Bad idea. I think the \"shark\" was actually the cat attacking my foot but in my dream it was one mean mofo shark and I was laying the smack down on it and trying not to drown. Woke up about 5:17am when me and Sharkie's briney brawl was a draw and decided to put a concerted effort into dreaming about something on land.

Jeremy's beautiful milanese gauntlets came today, delivered by our superhumanly cute Airborne Express guy. The Airborne Express guy's cuteness is probably the most dangerous biological substance that will be delivered to our office. He's definitely my favorite delivery dude. And the gauntlets are superb. Jeremy came over just to try them on during lunch. The right one is a little tight in the cuff but he thinks it will be okay. I got some Charles Atlas poses out of him with his gauntlets on. Very cute. Cuter, even, than the Airborne Express guy (if you could imagine).

I'm also taking this opportunity for some service announcements. Those of you with DiaryLand accounts (and you know who you are) should sign up for a gold membership. It's cheap and it helps out Andrew - who is the mac daddy of Dland. You pay way more for cable and that's mostly garbage. Besides the stats are more specific than the ones you can get from sitemeter.

Also, you all should check out Quoted if you don't already. Catching up on that site last night left me giggling while I was trying to go to sleep. It's encouraging to know that there are witty, intelligent, amazing people out there and all you have to do is read them. So take this information as you please. But that's my two cents worth as the case may be.
